Oh, I forgot to mention.
I went to an on-the-spot interview today. See, it said job fair. So I thought like there’d be a person for each position of the restaurant. That you just show up, chat for a bit, hand in resumes and boom. Done.
Nope.
I walked in, got seated to fill in an application. Then they take you back one by one and interview you. Right there.
It’s always the ones you didn’t know you had to prepare for that you feel the most nervous about.
But I made eye contact, had my hands folded on the table so I wouldn’t fidget, nodding and context clues, y’know. And I know I said at least one thing right, as his immediate response was, “Good. Good, that’s what I like to hear.”
So cross your fingers for me. I may have a position in a higher-end Italian restaurant. Only as a Hostess/Runner, but… Y’know, if that doesn’t work out, I’ll ask him to consider me for something like Dishwasher or something. But they said that they’ll keep the resumes on file, and those who applied today may get a call down the road to ask if they’re still interested and be hired. So…
I think I have a bit of a chance. Now it’s just the waiting game.
